ABSTRACTS FOR OOC

We invite trainee doctors, allied health professionals, SAS doctors, consultants, and early career researchers (from a non-commercial or commercial research facility) to submit abstracts for inclusion into the Oxford Ophthalmological Congress programme.

Successful abstracts will be offered a place to present their research at the poster exhibition which is open between Monday and Wednesday of the congress.

A subset of authors will be offered poster AND oral presentation within the Rapid-Fire session.

All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the OOC Council Review Panel.

Abstracts will be marked and shortlisted on the following qualitative criteria:

  • Scientific content.

  • Originality, impact and relevance to clinical care.

  • Adherence to abstract guideline structure and length.

ABSTRACT CATEGORIES

We welcome both Clinical Research or Laboratory Research submissions

Sub-specialism categories:

  • Corneal & Cataract

  • Emergency Eye Care

  • Glaucoma

  • Inherited Retinal Disease

  • Lids, Lacrimal & Orbit

  • Medical Retina (inc. Uveitis)

  • Paediatric, Strabismus & Neuro-ophthalmology

  • Ocular Oncology and Pathology

  • Surgical Retina

Generally 80 abstracts are presented as posters, a maximum of 14 abstracts also being presented within the Rapid-Fire Session (eligible for the Ian Fraser and Founders Cups).

We routinely receive an abundance of outstanding abstracts. Competition to present an abstract at Oxford Ophthalmological Congress is extremely fierce. We therefore ask authors to carefully consider which abstract type and sub-specialism category they submit to and pay careful attention to the submission guidelines.

Abstract submitters will be notified of the results by the 1st March 2024 (in time to book study leave).
